Who We Are / Why We Are

Let's say you belonged to a local chapter of a large motorcycle organization and the new management of the national office doesn't give the District and Chapters the necessary tools and guidance to help your Districts and Chapters thrive.

Of course enthusiasm dies, membership dwindles and the Districts and Chapters fade away.

Just because your club went away, doesn't mean you don't still have the desire to ride with like minded people. What if you still want to go on rides with large groups, small groups or something in between? Do you like long rides that go for a whole day or few days or a short hop to get a Burger and Shake or Pizza and a Beer? Yes to all of it! These are the reasons you joined the large organization in the first place!

We are members of such an organization. Your humble Webmaster is a Life Member! In the past, our organization had great events, camp outs, competitions and we did quite a bit of charity work within our communities. While all of that can be fun and rewarding, the main reason we belong (or belonged) to our particular organization was to ride with others who like to ride.

Well, our national office left us twisting in the wind. There is no longer an Oregon District or any Chapters to belong to. While there was virtually no support from the National Office, they still wanted their fees for us to maintain our District and Chapter. Nuts to that! BTW, what were those individual dues I paid yearly for, if not to maintain my District and Chapter?

We still want to ride. So what do you do?

We've set up this website as a portal for the folks who like to ride with others, but are unable to find out who's going where and when. We will post up coming ride information for rides we're planning and encourage you to do the same. We don't care what you ride or how many wheels it has. It's all about the ride!

At this early stage, we're going to wing it a little as we're not certain how we're going to catagorize the rides. They may be by county, city, long ride, short ride (anything under 200 miles is short). They should have a start point where all can gather, Kick Stands up time and a contact email address. Hopefully, they will also have the end point and / or approximate distance.

If you have a ride coming up that could use a few more riders (and what ride couldn't), send an email to ride@gotta-ride.net with as much information as possible. Be sure to include whether you want confirmation from the attendees for a head count or not.

EXAMPLE: Group ride to Depoe Bay 9/4/21. Start at McDonalds at the Oregon City Shopping Center. Kick stands up at 9:00am. Destination is Gracie's Sea Hag Approximately 112 miles one way.
Any Questions / Confirmation: george@yoohoo.com, this is not a real email address.

Please hang in there with us and check back often. This is a work in progress and is intended to be a free service with no registration required. HOWEVER, rides without a valid email address or phone number (we really prefer email) will not be considered for posting.

To avoid spammers and other creeps, we will likely assign you a temporary @gotta-ride.net email address until your ride information expires.
